Christ the King Parish Safe Environment Program
Christ the King Parish Safe Environment Program
Christ the King parish is committed to protecting those to whom we minister, especially our children and vulnerable adults, from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. To that end, we require that all staff and volunteers pass a background check, complete safe environment training, and live in accord with Catholic moral teaching.
Staff and volunteers read and verify their knowledge of the diocesan policies regarding abuse prevention and reporting. We also utilize VirtusOnline for safe environment training; sessions are offered several times a year. You can read more about the parish safe environment program here.
Students in our Religious Education programs and our school also receive age-appropriate presentations on personal safety during class times.
If you have been abused or victimized by a member of the Catholic clergy, please believe in the possibility for hope and help and healing. We encourage you to come forward and speak out. The Yakima Diocese has a sexual abuse hotline for those who wish to report some incident regarding that issue as regards a bishop, priest, deacon, religious, diocesan employee, or volunteer: 888-276-4490.
