Inquiry / RCIA

rcia.gifDo you want to become a Catholic?  Are you a Baptized Catholic who never received the Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation?

The catechumenate or RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the normal process through which an unbaptized adult becomes a Catholic Christian and it is the ordinary means of entering the Catholic Church for a person who has been baptized in another Christian denomination. Also people who are returning to the Catholic Church or who feel a need for deeper background as they begin actively practicing the faith have found features of the catechumenate very valuable to them. Four periods form the RCIA:

Inquiry Nights  —  Anyone who is interested in learning more about Catholicism, may be interested in becoming Catholic, is returning to the Church, and so forth. This inquiry process is a time for free exploration and getting to know the Church better.

Catechumenate —   is for people who ave gone through the inquiry process or have a solid background in Christianity, who now want to become Catholic.

Enlightment —  begins with the Lenten season and climaxes at the Easter Vigil Mass with Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist for the Catechumens. Those already Baptized in another Christian denomination enter into full communion with the Catholic Church by making their profession of faith, and receiving Confirmation and Eucharist.

Mystagogia —  occurs during the Easter season. This is a period of quiet reflection for the newly initiated on their life as a Catholic Christian.

Classes usually begin in September and meet once a week.  We welcome you to Christ the King.  To learn more, contact the Program Coordinator at 946-1154, ext 62, or email RCIA@ckparish.org .  You can also speak with one of the Priests or Deacons.
